Combo mini receiver & CD player recommendation (no speakers)

I'm looking for a small combination FM receiver & CD player to use with existing speakers and a 32" LCD TV in a bedroom. Depth is an issue as I don't want a full size unit. Also, 5.1 and HD radio would be nice options.

I did find this, but it is a little pricey at $250;

They also have this, but it is really pricey ($400) especially since it is not 5.1 or 7.1;

I doubt you are going to be able to find a receiver that is less than 13" deep that is 5.1 capable, just so you know. If 13" is okay, there are plenty out there that can be had for a wide range of prices. You can choose from NAD, Pioneer, Onkyo, Harmon Kardon, just to name a few. Take a look at the Onkyo TX-SR307, TX-SR507, or TX-SR607 if you can swing the 13", or for cheaper options go with older models of the same line (306,506,606,605, etc.). Onkyo has some pretty good value; lots of features per dollar. Remember, manufacturer's prices are usually more than what you will pay online at a place like Amazon.

I think the second one you linked is pretty cool for such a compact unit since it plays dvds and has HDMI output. You should be able to find it quite a bit cheaper than the retail price Yamaha has listed on their website.

I also found two similar versions from Teac, but they are 2" deeper. Teac doesn't seem to have much of a user base in the US. They appear to be European oriented.
The 12" depth is a little much. 10" or less would be ideal. The 5.1/7.1, as I said is optional. I don't want a full size receiver.

I don't see why you don't get one of the ones you linked. You seem to know exactly what you want. I don't think there is anything wrong with any of them.

As an aside, I know you said you already have speakers, but you may also have better luck finding the device you want as part of a compact HTiB system or micro component system...
