Combining left and right channel together.

I'm using a small second receiver to run just 1 speaker (can only be 1) in a seperate room to use while on the treadmill. The receiver doesn't have a mono feature and the center speaker channel sounds "tinny" compared to the left and right front channels. I want to use the front channels but with only one speaker you can't get both. Can I connect the left and right channels together to make it mono?

No, unless you want to ruin the receiver. How does it sound hooked up to only the L or R channel?

you could seriously impair the receiver. IMNSHO, either bite the bullet and get a second speaker and run the unit in stereo or get a mono radio.

I take it a boom box won't suffice?

It sounds good but you're still missing what is happening on the L if hooked to the R, visa versa.

Nope, because the receiver is connected to my computer which has all the songs.

two options to get all the sound out of the speaker...

combine the channels before they come into the receiver (run both the L and R channels into just the R channel on the Rx).

have the computer play in Mono mode...pretty sure you can easily find a media player that will do this.
