I just noticed that I have a red chicklet and I would like to know exactley what I did to get it. Thanks.

Was it because I'm one of those people who do believe in speaker break-in and the vast magority doesn't.

Go to your "User CP" tab and check for negative reputation points.

Thanks krzywica, just what I thought, my experience with speakers changing while breaking in offended people. I have never heard a tweeter change, a midrange/bass driver a little, and a sub driver substantially. I stand by what I have said and in no way was saying this just to pi$$ people off, but I guess I have. Screw it, give me 10 red chicklets please.

I actually agree with you on speaker break in. When I got my athena AS-F2's I fired them up and my roomate at the time said they did'nt have much bass for how big they were. He went on vacation the next day and came back in 2 weeks raving about how full and deep they sounded compared to out of the box. So may Zeus reign fire down upon me for agreeing with the manufacturers, and a small rebel sect known as the "speaker break in junkies". :)

I gotta agree with both of you a little bit. I have not heard, or at least don't think I've heard, changes in my tweeter or midrange but I could swear my base sounds just a little different. I've had my speakers about six months now.

I have noticed, though, that the more expensive, or more hifi, a speaker is they always giving a larger number of hours for break in time.

And Cam, don't worry about the red chicklet, somehow, I guess I pissed someone of by ether by calling Pres. Bush an idiot or saying holy cow and I can't believe France offered to help with Our hurricane relief. The rest of that post was saying which countries have offered help and what they are willing to send. Oh well, to each his own.

what can you do

I got a "positive" chicklet that said "damn annoying sometimes, but you bring good points. What are you supposed to do? say thanks then punch him in the face?

This whole system is flaud. No one uses it properly, and we are all temped to rate by opinion and mood. The admin took of 10 points because I called privateer a name. Although I should not have, the system is for audio/video wisdom, not name calling. Oh well, I think there is talks of the sytem being taken down, as most wrong posts here will be corrected if the are wrong by 10 other people. And the people seeking information usually can tell what is true and not.

I for one thought your comment was rather funny. :)

I've changed my mind. I say get rid of the chicklets after all. At least it will force people to put-up or else shut-up. If a person disagrees with someone, let them say so.

So there! ;)

Once again, I have to agree with you Buckle on the chicklet thing, if it is that vicious or insulting of a post I'm sure our moderators would delete it pretty quick.

What did Privateer say to get himself banned? Anyone?

.....Buckle-Meister, I believe Privateer hung himself with repetition more than a particular incident.....

Yes, he was very negative toward alot of things.

I agree that the Reputation system is flawed and should not be used since people are overreacting to it. It doesnt really matter. But some people think it does and take it too seriously, then the flame wars start, everyone gets mad, etc. etc.. I think it shouldn't be used.

Perhaps.

He may have posted opinions which offended some, but at least he was a man who called a spade a spade.

For that, he has my respect.

Rep systems are pretty good in general if used right.

I've been on other boards that use rep, and although flawed, it does work out well.

On one board, if you get more than 10 red in a day, you get reviewed to determine if banning is reasonable.

The other board, if you hit the lowest possible level of red, you are auto-banned.

Both of these systems help to deal with abusive members, one without even having to invoke the mods with any chance. I've been in the red on both boards at one time, and really it never bugged me...actually on the "other" board, I am almost at the top level of it now....and I never cared about it really.

basically after a while the "gee whiz" factor goes away, and you just have either a useless feature, or a useful tool for weeding out trouble.

The whole chiklet thing is stupid. I got my red one because I do believe that different amps have a different sound. The person who gave it to me believes all amps sound the same. While a neat idea it is a system ripe for abuse.

I have received one red and one green

the red was for making a statement of fact outside of audio world. Not sure if someone disagreed with my statement, or if because it nothing to do with audio. Guess it doesn't really matter, because it's something I'm very passionate about.

The green was a tongue in cheek comment I made. I thought it was funny, obviously they did too :)

Does it really matter? Red's ought to be reserved for outrageous or attacking type posts. Greens reserved for those posts that just make you say, I gotta save that one. Trolling for chicklets or just bumping count defeats their mere purpose in life. Maybe forcing voters to generate a private msg to a user telling
that person why they voted the way they did will make it a worthwhile feature.

So, Please vote green chicklets for this outstanding, well thought out, highly educational post, LOL
