Cleaning ideas - blood from bug...

Wondering if anyone has any ideas on how to clean blood off a screen. Apparently a bug was on the back when I rolled it up and now I have a nice blood splatter right in the middle of the viewing area. Tried warm water first, then goo gone as per the Elite website suggestion, nothing has worked. I have a basic Elite screen, at least I didn't buy the really nice screen I was thinking about last year.

My receiver died after the last movie and it of course has taken a month to decide and buy a new receiver so the screen has been up for a long time allowing this stain to sit at least 20+ days.

Any suggestions? Other than upgrade, my wife doesn't view that as an option just yet...

Try denatured alcohol, after contacting Elite to find out if it will be a problem for the screen. Shellac is made from the crushed shells from the lac bug, dissolved in alcohol. It's a good cleaner and shouldn't do any damage if it's not wet fro too long but again, contact Elite first.

Unfortunately I think you have fixed the hemoglobin pigments to the screen.

When dealing with blood you never use warm liquids, the colder the better.

Hydrogen peroxide will usually oxidize the pigments and allow them to be removed with cold water. Cold water alone will usually do the trick if it is fresh.

Unfortunately hemoglobin pigments well fixed to any fabric are pretty nigh impossible to remove completely.

It was a carpet beetle, we've had a few show up lately, so not exactly tiny so it's a pretty good stain. Thanks for the suggestions.
