Has anyone compared any of the following: Earthquake Cinenova 5 vs. McIntosh MC205. I cannot do an A/B no local dealer carries both amps Neither dealer carries my speakers (Atlantic 8200e) either. The Cinenova new is 2100 the McIntosh is used for 3500. Besides listening to both on my speakers (which I can't do) any advice on a choice? I know McIntosh performs well, how about earthquake? Is the Mc worth the extra money?

how many of your speakers would they drive? Do you need that much power? What is your speakers sensitivtiy?Contact both and find where they have dealers. The problem with high end is most dealers cant inventory large amounts, and demos can be limited to similar models. If your gonna buy blind and want to save money you might consider emotiva.

ask hh he can give details on mac

Amp options

It is not in the same league as the Mc, but the new Emotiva XPA-5 has 5 x 200 Watts and balanced inputs for $800.

Bring in your smaller bookshelf size speakers and some familiar material for a demo or convince the dealer to let you demo one of the amps at home. In general the electronics are not as critical as the speakers and the room.
