I just watched this last night and overall it was pretty good. I wasn't "wowed" by the movie, but I was definately entertained, even though it kinda dragged a few times.

The sound track was mixed well, both DTS and DD, and the PQ seemed fine too. Lots of LFE. Last time I read the book, I was something like 8, so I really don't know how they compare. Either way, I liked it.

I only threw it in for a few scenes because I saw it in the theater. The opening scene had some good LFE. The river scene and the battle. I thought the DTS mix was very good. Story was pretty standard, no surprises if you already know it, but I thought it was well done overall. I thought the CG was quite well done also; better than average.

I watched it last night too and found the DTS mix to be quite pleasing. The story was ok, but more for children than adults, but still not too bad overall.

IMDB didn't list the details yet either.... The SE has it for sure, not sure about the 1 disc version, though I would expect that disc is the same for both versions, the difference with the SE being the packaging and 2nd disc.

Yes, they both have a DTS track, I bought the single disc version and it has both a DTS and DD track. As far as I could tell, it is the same as disc 1 from the 2 disc version.

I enjoyed the 2hrs I spent watching the movie. This is a movie the whole family can enjoy.

Loved the movie. So far my favorite this year.

One question though. It seemed like that is movie just didn't look good viewed through HDMI. I'm using a Denon 1920, connected to a Hitachi V710. Have read numerous posts about macroblocking issues, and other distortions, but have never experienced them with my set up until this DVD. My display supports 720i, and that's what I have the upconversion set to.
Are these problems sometimes DVD specific? Because this is the first one that I've had problems with. The DVD looks great when viewed through an analog connection on the same set up.

Yes, poor video mastering can strike anytime! Cold Mountainis really bad considering its age.
