Chladni Plate / Banana plugs / 3.5mm

Hi,

I'm looking at creating a Chladni plate demonstration to show the different resonant patterns. I'm wondering if I could use a laptop / app with a tone generator to provide the signal which would then connect to a vibration generator. If so, is it possible to have a lead (output from laptop) which is 3.5mm jack to banana plug (input on vibration generator)?

Here's an example of what I mean:

Any advice is much appreciated.

You will most likely need an amplifier between the laptop and vibration generator. Can you give a link on the vibration generator?

I base that comment on tactile transducers (couch shakers) needing an amplifier between the the subwoofer out (equivalent to your laptop) and the transducer attached to the couch (equivalent to your vibration generator).
