China - An Emerging Market For High-End Audio?

Here is an interesting site on Chinese manufactored high-end A/V products.
http://www.xs4all.nl/~viver/chinese hi-end/chinese hifi.html

I recently purchased an Emotiva DMR-1 receiver and is quite happy with it's performance. Granted it does not offer the latest hdmi spec but what captivates me is the A1 sound, build quality and the affordability!

This product was built in China. From what I understand, there are other products that can be found in China that will offer the "audiophile" excellent build and sound quality at very affordable prices.

So the question is will China be a big player in offering the high-end audio consumer affordable options for their audio/video expenditures?

There's no reason China can't get to High-End Audio standards.
But personally, I would feel better if my audio came from Japan, England, & the USA.:D

Do you mean 'made in China' or actual Chinese brands? There seems to be a huge difference as the 'made in China' brands are largely designed outside of that country. While Japan seems to be advanced technologically, I'm not familar with Chinese-designed products. With the exception of Oppo (which took much input from US sources) they don't strike me as having a proven track record.

I know this is a little bit off from electronics, but does China even make cars?

We all know about Lexus, Infiniti, Acura from Japan.

Japan is #1 (outside of USA, England). I think Korea is ahead of China in terms of TECHNOLOGY.

What some technology companies are doing is designing their products internally and then having them built in China. Case in point...Emotiva. Labor is cheaper in China...hence that saving is passed to the consumer.

Personally, I prefer British and American speakers. The mass produced Japanese electronics do not float my boat. However, some of their high-end gear is among the best offered.

*cuffs ya upside the head* Don't forget Canada :p
Canada is awesome as well! Our great friends to the north are respected leaders in the A/V technology market too. That is a known fact.

Happy Listening,
