Hey.

So, I do reviews of Blu-ray discs on Audioholics from time to time. My GF does them too. We've actually started a hobby-website that will maintain a close relationship with Audioholics:

www.ChickFlicksOnBlu-Ray.com we're aiming for a niche vertical, women who love movies and home theater. I know they're out there.

Chick Flicks on Blu-ray

I'll help write some articles and obviously link to Audiholics tech articles as an authority because I'm too lazy to do the kind of exhaustive research Gene does.

Hope you... err... girls (and guys) like it!

Okay, to tell the truth we're going to push the boundaries of what constitutes a "chick flick". I won't get to review Alien vs. Predator on it anytime soon ... unless they make a sequel with Hugh Grant in an unlikely meet cute with an Alien Queen who implants him with a symbiot ... actually that would be a freakin' cool movie! Especially when Hugh gets the baby alien bump.

I was always forced to watch chick flicks growing up (household filled with women while Dad was in navy) and a film that I actually liked that I hope will be released on Bluray is "Somewhere in Time" with Christopher Reeve and Jane Seymour. Pretty much all the ladies in my household considered this movie the end all beat all romantic chick flick and was actually pretty good.

"The Notebook" is my GF's choice of best chick flick, it was okay but she sure goes ga-ga over that one (and it is on Bluray)

My choice would be "Nine" with Daniel Day Lewis, story is told from the perspective of a womanizer director of the 60's but the music in it is so good it was hard to say anything about this chick flick. Also stars Kate Hudson, Fergie, Penelope Cruz and Nicole Kidman, just a great story and great music. GF rented this one and I wanted to hate this one, but the music just took me right in (that and seeing Penelope Cruz in lingerie singing around a pole was great eye candy) but it is a chick flick and on Blu.

I recently enjoyed "The Young Victoria"
Now and again, I can take a chick-flick and sometimes I think I owe my wife for things like The Book of Eli or The Hangover. I actually liked Young Victoria and also Julie and Julia.

I'm not a huge 'chick flick' guy. Actually my GF doesn't care for the notebook and I have never seen it (dodged that bullet).

She has introduced me to those movies based on Jane Austen books and I think they're quite well done. I can see how people become interested in the social politics of the time.

It appears that we need a thread called "Chick Flicks for Manly Men". The question would be, just what IS a chick flick? Anything from a Jane Austin story or a derivative like Bridget Jones Diary counts, Julie and Julia probably counts, but do the Alien movies?

I enjoyed this movie also.:D

I don't really care if a movie is a "chick flick" or not.

If it is a GOOD movie, then it is a good movie; and I will watch it.

Then you don't want to see Away We Go. Just trust me on this one. My g/f liked it but she likes Wife Time too. I may need masculinity training now that I have seen this film. I feel like I took a massive overdose of estrogen.
