Haven't built a model in a very long time. But figured this one would be perfect, I served on the SSN-21 USS Seawolf for the last year of my service.

No, it's just 1:144th scale plastic model.

LOL! I was going to add to my first post that, as nice as the model is, I wouldn't be truly impressed unless you actually sailed on her. But, I thought that would be rude, so I didn't.

Dolphin Code 38 ;)

Found it only fitting for the forums :D

Mine was armed with 50 Block 4 Tomahawk missiles, about 50 ADCAP torps and, most dangerously, around 130 very lonely sailors!
That's a lot of ordinance! We only carried 18 Mk48 Mod? (can't remember the mod number - I worked at the other end of the boat) and 50 crewmembers.

Code 39 and 61.;)

Don't remember our torpedo models either, I spent all my time stuck at a comm station. I only remember the Tomahawks because they're basically badass killing machines capable of creating smoking holes of earth from over 500 miles away

What ship were you on?

HMCS Ojibwa (twice), HMCS Onondaga, HMCS Okanogan and HMS Unicorn/HMCS Windsor. From 1985 to 2005. Yeah, I wouldn't be on the receiving end of a Tomahawk. Or a Mk 48, for that matter...

That's one hell of a sub service record! I spent one year underwater, that was enough for me....didn't re-sign! USN Never Again!

Well, when a nuclear submarine goes on patrol, it's a long haul. I can understand your reluctance to re-sign. Diesel boats don't have such long legs, so we don't spend as much time at sea in one stretch. For instance, the longest I ever spent dived continuously was about 30 days. Longest stretch ever at sea, was about 6 weeks. In the O-Boats, we would often transit on the surface to exercise areas, as they were faster on the surface. In wartime of course, it would be a completely different matter. A war patrol could be continuously submerged for a maximum of about 90 days. It would look like "Das Boot" though - groceries everywhere.

Our boats are slow, but as quiet as a hole in the water...

We were out for 70+ at a time, very short leave, then back at it. Only got to go topside once on deployment, but it was pretty awesome to be on the water, much different than being on the USS Mahan.
We ran 3 comm shifts on the Mahan, then went to the Seawolf after I got my Dolphins, which runs 2 comm shifts, that with the lack of day/night didn't make me really want to keep at it. PO2 was high enough for me!
