cheap tv for girlfriend, Insignia?

she is by no means someone cares enough about AV to want anything special for the viewing area in her home. I wanted to get her a inexpensive tv in the high 20"'s to low 30"'s. I was looking at Insignia at BB, I know what a cheap ***. I recently spent a lot on my own tv so that's all I can do right now.

any comments?

I have had good results with a 32" Sceptre LCD that I bought from Costco.

I've got 2 42" Vizio LCD, running 13+ hrs a day at my store for 2 years with no problem so far. IMO, I'd do it all over again, if I have to.

If Insignia made Viagra there'd be alot of pi$$ed off people,nothing Insignia makes works for long.

Insignia doesn't make anything, they have other companies make stuff for them. Their last line of receivers was made by Sherwood, I have one, it's decent for a cheap receiver. The Insignia LCDs are made by the same company that makes the Samsung panels, the Samsungs have better electronics.

when I bought a 15" insignia lcd tv from BB they told me not to buy anything larger as the amount of returns were astronimical. FTR, i'm pretty happy with the 15" lcd I bought to put over my treadmill. My boss has the 26" and its a peice of crap. The picture is horrendous. YMMV

So, what exactly is your budget? How much are you willing (or able) to spend? I have to agree, for the most part Insignia is a waste of your money. There are better options.

Look for a sale, especially online. The size range you are looking at is very popular. The manufacturers are selling alot of sets in this area. Many times you can get a good brand for the same price as much of the cheaper brands. You should see some really good sales this week with the super bowl around the corner. Keep your eyes open. You may be surprised that the price difference isn't a whole lot, maybe even cheaper for a beter tv. Timing is everything in this industry. Good luck.

Brands like Insignia can be very difficult to have serviced after the warranty period, if even at all. That is one way they are able to sell them cheap.
