I've got a TV and DVD player in my bedroom and I've been wanting to hook up some surround sound to it for a while. Problem is, I'm a complete beginner to these things so I thought I should ask somewhere impartial first.

I pretty much just need a reciever and speaker package that has Dolby surround and Prologic 2. My budget is pretty low though, the max I will spend is $450 CAD (I'd say about $350 US)

Any suggestions?

I just don't think that putting a surround system in a bedroom if you don't have to is typically a good idea. Sure, there are exceptions to that statement- if you live in a studio apartment, or your bedroom is large enough to support a separate viewing area (where you can properly position speakers for the effect), but on the whole, I doubt the sound or picture will be as good as it is in your main viewing/living room, and that would piss me off. Instead of listening to the movie I'd be hearing how crappy the surround sound is compared to my downstairs system.

Bryan...and *that* would keep me up nights... ;)
