When it comes to audio performance and quality that just happens to be one of the more important factors in my life.

.....is that all?....hey, I'm sure it's quality, but technology marches on, "down below", where the masses live....from paycheck to paycheck....I quit.....

Note to mulester7: Buy any decent brand new DVD player in the $200 range. You are being ripped off by this "mod" stuff. It will sound just as good as Privateer's $4000 player. Remember the sound is all about speakers and room acoustics and I do not believe the dvd player can be moded to provide a noticeably improved picture. That's how I see it.

the total here is 124 plus 580....Bob told me, to mod the Samsung gives amazing audio and video....I thought it already did....I can't wait....speakers are our music's last chance, but the quality of the signal is the origin....Bob is sending two to the guy....

$124+$580? How much are you really spending? So now you are paying $704 for a "modified" $250 DVD player? My oh my, I am sure there are better ways to blow your money.

At work I have seen the insides of quite a few "cheap" DVD players and I must say its not only the electrical components that are cheap. Does the mod include a new case and drive as well? You might want to ask for that price!

.....I just IM'ed with Bob, and he was listening to a Sony 1000 something he had the mods put in and received two days ago....Bob said it has been playing nonstop for a couple of days and is only getting better concerning both the video and audio....I had no idea he had already sent one until today, and Bob told me he is only going to order and send one Samsung 941.....

.....to achieve "Studio Quality".....

.....that's why a mod would be added to any component, Bob said to me....hey, I have thought about this for three days now....I haven't ordered the Samsung yet....mainly, because I am divided over whether any effect of the mod would be noticable....if it takes a scope to detect something, I discount it....I've got two wonderful scopes on the sides of my head, and dollars spent beyond their audibility I detest more than anything....shoot, I hate to waste money in ANY area....my main interest in the mod is the audio, by the way....I could care less if the image quality gets any better....Bob said it would, but maybe he was talking scopes, I don't know.....

.....the reason I put off the ordering the first night, was because of reading this review I am about to post a link to....and the link is the guy's website....I wondered if it was implied the best results come from a Sony....I called him again yesterday, and he said the Samsung had the least to fix....truth....

.....I am going to order one tonight and have it sent to him, though....I will not have another 941 to compare to, but the audio signal being "all it can be" is paramount to me, and I can try a piece of equipment "made" audiophile/ruler-flat, for 704 bucks....

.....this venture could be a worthwhile endeavor to establish if self-proclaimed audiophiles, are spending THOUSANDS/S/S for an extra 1%, and probably 1/8%....oh well, here is the link....I'll drop 704 to see if the audio can improve....and I think the audio I presently have from the 931 will be a fair enough AB....music is either musical, or it's not....warm, or not....more layers in the sound will show up, or they won't....correct, this has everything to do with the +/- db from top to bottom....screw the scopes.....

.....Privateer, I would love to be able to answer that....spend a few nationwide-minutes and call Paul....but he's busy usually with incoming calls....he indicated he had either 3 or 5 guys working for him....he may have said he had three inhouse, and did a lot of contract work with two others, I think....I have used that top number twice now, and got him right off both times.....

I'm not saying I agree or disagree with anyone. But it looks like more of a scheme to get your money for a very unnoticable difference. I'm sure I'll get reamed for this one, but I went with a unknown. NeuNeo HVD 2081 that is firmware upgradeable. And they have already sent me a download for an audio issue. Burnt it on a cd popped it in, and viola totally fixed the problem. Also with 1080p upconvert, I am very happy with the picture quality and now sound is great. Totally blows away my Samsung HD-841 which had issues with digital upconvert and reading DVD-R's. And super problems reading original DVD's.

.....this post impressed me....calm and convinced and flowing, holds your attention throughout, and enlightening with much information....reminded me of the posts of Le-Inductance co-professor WmAx....a definite headnod toward the headphone posts.....

.....Brian, I haven't ordered anything yet....your post had the most to do with that, but be it fodder or not, I am going to....I plan to call Paul one last time Monday, and ask him if I should be talking to the two guys he contracts out with for advice on units for sending, of whom the review indicated actually came up with the mod/s for players DVD and CD....

.....you've all been where I'm at....sure, there's a little excitement over the prospects....the event is elevated in anticipation, mainly, by I feel I know what to listen for....and that's something we're all on the same floor concerning....at my house the question is, does my system, cranked tastefully, especially with new DVD's and CD's I'm hearing for the first time, and that could be the first 10,000 times, produce physical effects within me of being thrilled or soothed, as I listen?....that's the measuring stick I police my system with.....if you chillbump, and your body begins to acknowledge the rhythm on upbeat stuff, or you very well end up with wet eyes when inspired by a slower one, you love MUSIC, that is rich in Musicality....thanks, Brian, your player will be asked about....

....guys, I'm in a position in my career and life where I've got extra money with no house payment or wheels payments, and am dropping decent chunks on stereo stuff....but I try to think about what could be said, or what the effect of endorsing might be, a piece of gear that is pricey....many of you have young families, which says, "after-payments-money gone quick"....I know....all I can say is, the odds are, a better day is coming with the finances....but now we're talking mammon, of which there should be little respect....let me assure you, if you're married with very small kids who can walk sorta', that are picking up words every day, you're where it's at concering this life, hands-down....but, with me, to raise kids brought an element of work that caused the time to not be treasured until later, can any of you fellow-old-farts back that one up?....

.....thought for the day....even though your wife has a lifetime pass in any home theater you will ever possess, if she has denied herself, in any way, that you might have that sound system, may that act mean to you, what it should mean to you, on each, and every, count or incident....

.....last thought....it's, "usually", (poll taken 2005 by MuleHouse-LTD-LLC-ZOO), not one's fault, for the frustration-vent they receive from Poochkins/mate....the vent session is 99 times out of 100, (same poll), a request, an Outcry, for a concerned and caring ear, love, acceptance, "calming", and attention, from the mate they love and live with....and you need to allow her-usually/him, haha, to talk it out to you....(and let's go with "her/she" to make it easier with less typing dash wink)....she can't help but listen to herself as she pours it out to you, and many times will work the problem/frustration out right then, give you most of the credit with a big smile, hug, and kiss, walk away from you feeling much better, already planning, and YOU, never, said, one, single, word....I raise my right hand it happened to me a few times, as I stared into space afterwards.....yes, some happenings are not only in the movies or funnypapers....I can attest the vile woman-creatures are amazing accomplishers/performers when supported and loved, get your mind out of the gutter, Privateer, just kidding, we love them Merlin's, but seriously, our ONLY, admonishment as husbands, from one direction, is to simply, love our wife....you need to check the MANY admonishments she gets in Proverbs 31.....

I would also like to point out, those worried about HDCP.
That the NeuNeo has HDCP disabled, and is not required.
But, with the Samsung HD841 it is enabled. However there is a hack that can be done with the remote to disable HDCP. And it does work. I personally tried it, and unit will display HDCP turned off. I do not know if the 941 is capable of doing this, but I would say that somewhere out there somebody is working on it. Surely it has been done.
Also, there are a lot of players that can be hacked and modded, without sending it in for someone to charge a fee. I believe there are a lot of hacks that can be done with Denon players.

All that said, I still like the fact of a player being firmware upgradeable.
