Anyone have favorite chair recommendations?

Currently, my basically square living room has me sitting on a couch diagonally from the middle of a wall for viewing. I'm thinking I should probably get a nice chair for plopping in the middle of the room for watching tv from, so I can watch straight on, and from a little more distance. One caveat: there are two purposes, both the comfortable, relaxing watching; and the sitting up playinc PC games for all too many hours. One chair may not be right for both.

Options range from an old favorite, the Ekornes chairs which IIRC run about $800, to a simple Costco leather chair for $115, to recliners.

The most comfortable chair I've ever sat in was an Ekornes, but it cost quite a bit more than $800. When I win the lottery, I'll get two of them! :)

For music, the best chair is one that doesn't interfere with listening. By that I mean it doesn't get in the way by generating reflections that will degrade the sound. When I first starting looking for a new pair of speakers for my stereo system a couple of years ago I did the same thing and plopped down in one of those hideous oversized lounge chairs and wondered why the expensive speakers I was listening to on the best electronics didn't sound any better than they did. Now I know. "It's the chair stupid!"

While a stool may not be what you had in mind, avoid anything that will get between you and the music.

The Ekhornes Stressless chairs are the most comfortable chairs I have used, by far. I have two older models in my house and I love them but I know people with the newer models and they are even more comfortable.

Update

I went looking at some chairs today, and my memory was bad on the Ekornes pricing - they were in the $1800-$2100 range.

They're still nice and comfortable, but didn't grab me as 'nothing else is good enough' now, especially for the price. Still something to ponder.

However, I found another brand of Ekornes-like chair which was actually perhaps more comfortable, for $999 with the foot stool; perhaps lesser contruction, I don't have much way of knowing. The most comfortable furniture tends to induce sleepiness, a fine test.:)

The question of whether a couch or a chair is more suitable for movies is open too; for the gaming, only a chair will do, but the Ekornes doesn't seem optimal for that, it's more for relaxing, passive activities it seemed. Seems like I'll need a more upright chair for that.
