Cerwin Vega AVS 5.1 problem

Hi All,

The subwoofer on my Cerwin Vega system turns on and off at random times. It has two power modes:

1. Auto on
2. Off.

There is no "on" function so I can't just leave it on. It seems to turn off when it wants to and we can't turn it on however much we play with it.

And yes, I've tried different cables and made sure they are all connected well.

Is there a way to get it to reliably stay on? Anyone else had these types of problems with CV's before?

Thanks for your help and input.

The 'Auto on' feature uses the input signal to trigger the sub on when the signal is strong enough and then turn off when the signal has been too low for period of time(normally 15min).

So if the sub is turning on and off during an action movie with ample amounts of bass throughout, I'd suggest its not getting a strong enough signal from the receiver.

Normally the sub out level trim on the receiver should be set to 0db(not -Xdb), use the volume control on the sub to reach the desired calibration level. If you have already done this then you could try boosting the sub output level on the receiver or using a splitter cable to split the LFE output on the receiver to two inputs(L/R) on the sub. This will increase the input signal to the sub(IIRC 3db), then just adjust the volume on the sub to suite.

cheers:)
