Hi, I am very new to this forum and I need help with my old Mackie MR5 mk2 monitors. I also have the Soundblaster Z sound card. Basically, some sounds simply don't play through these speakers. On some songs I can't hear any singing, others I hear no guitar. It's the worst when watching youtube, all sounds are very muffled and can't distinguish words. I tested playing songs through my phone to the speakers, and they worked perfectly, so I am confused as to what the issue could be. I have reinstalled my sound drivers on the sound card and there is no difference. I have no idea what is causing these issues, if anyone has any idea please let me know. (very uneducated here)

At a guess I'd say your audio output settings in the computer/soundcard need review.

My guess is that you have your system setup for surround sound instead of stereo. You need to ensure that all audio is set to stereo. This way audio will be sent only to the left and right speakers and should be accurate.

If you are on a Windows machine you can check the way your output s setup by typing Sound in the search field at the bottom of the screen and then enter. On the window that opens up select Sound Control Panel on the far right of the screen. This will open a list of the sound devices. The active one will have a green check mark next to it. Click that device once and the select Configure at the bottom of the window. From there you can select the setup you have such as stereo or 5.1 and then just follow the instructions and click next. This will match your speaker configuration to what you are using.
