Center speaker on mantel

I have my TV hanging over the fireplace and don't have any issues with height. I am adding a center speaker ML Motion 30 and have the clearance between the TV and fireplace however the depth of the mantel is 8.5" and the speaker is 10.5". I am ok with any loss due to speaker being close to the wall, it is a tradeoff I deem ok based on my current family needs. I am also ok letting the speaker hang approximately 3" - 3.5"off the mantel (accounting for .5" - 1"space for cable hook ups. I believe it will be stable with approximately 7" on the mantel and 3" off, I will also add some sort of sticky rubber feet to provide more security. Does anyone have any insight or ideas other than what I have posted? I splurged for this speaker and really want this to work. I have uploaded a pic of the actual fireplace. Also note, the mantel does not get hot. I have had a Sonos sound bar on it for years and always check for heat.

My system: 4 B&W in wall (CWM664), Motion 30 center, Dyanmo 700 sub, powered by Yamaha RX-680BL. I know the sound stage is mixed but I have listened to the setup and have no issues with the sound. I am very excited about getting that sound in my house!

Sound wise ur probably ok. Id worry about it getting knocked off tho. Speakers are front heavy. I would secure it somehow.

Excellent point. Any ideas on securing? It would be ideal if i could secure it using the wall versus a strap across the back and going into the mantel. Have you ever seen this problem before?
