Center Speaker Above or Below

Hello all,

I am looking for some advice for my HT setup. I am just getting ready to place the speakers and I have a quesiton for the placement of the center channel. The room that I am setting up is about 12 feet wide by 18 feet long, as it is a basement it will have 7 foot celings. I am running a projector to a 92" 16x9 inch screen with a single row of dedicated seating with some ad hoc seating for larger groups. My question is should i have the center over the screen or under the screen. Any input would be appreicated.

Whichever spot makes it closer to ear level is the best spot for it. If your screen is acoustically transparent, then you can place the centre speaker behind it to make it exactly ear level, which might possibly increase the WAF.

Personally, I prefer to have the centre at a little bit above ear level and tilted down a bit. That way, people who are in the second row can still hear the dialogue easily (as opposed to having the centre too low).

cheers,
supervij
