I have been wondering about my center placement. I have the polk rtia9 as seen in my sig. My question is the speaker had the ability to flip over so its angled upwards. I have heard people say its better to have all front tweeters the same height. So would it be beneficial for me to flip my center so its angled upwards? right now at seating the center tweeter is about 6 inches below ear level where as the towers are about 12 inches above my ears. Would it help me to angle it up. Or leave it alone. I can see one problem that would make the center tweeter below the mids and have heard this is not the best choice.
Any suggetions would help. Im off work for surgery and tweaking. Also thinking about something to set below the center since its setting on glass. I have a black towell to help with reflections but Im sure there are better options like foam or something. But I saw some on a site that I didnt like the looks of. I think they began with an A.
Suggestions please from all you smart people on here.

Ideally, you want your center as close to your video screen as possible and with the tweeter pointed directly at your ear.

I agree with JerryLove, which in his round about way, has agreed with OP on the idea to flip it over and angle the speakers up towards your ear.

You are probably talking about Auralex MoPads and they are about 3" tall if that makes it too tall for your shelf. They do come with some thinner pads inside that are used to make them level, so those might work. It gives you 4 degrees of angle, or if you use 2, 8 degrees. MoPads both isolate and provide the angle. I use them on all 3 of my front speakers and I like them very much, but unless you are looking for isolation at the same time, I don't think they are necessary for what you are trying to do.

Looks like the mopads would work exactly. I could use them backwards so the badge on them is in the back and it abgle them up a few degrees at the same time It would get them off of my glass shelf which as far as I can see it could do nothing but help me out. :) I always wondered why people would angel up their center. Eben though mine is close to my tv some have told me that the angle will make the tweeters plain be closer and therefore make pan and scans across seem more even. So the sound wont seem to start from up to down back up.
So does anyone else have ani ideas? Or does it sound like I have my problem solved.

6" is a pretty minimal offset. However, as usual, it never hurts to experiment. Isolating from a glass shelf seems like a good thing to me. I say try the mopad out.

But its more like 18 to 20" fron tweeter on center to the tweeter on the tower.

Oh. Yeah, try angling. The significance will also depend how far you are from the speakers at the LP. Try the mopad with the desired angle. ;)

For a cheap alternative (not that mopads are exorbitant in price), speakerman (Phil) here might recommend a pair of doorstops to angle the speaker.

actually, I say just angle it so that the tweeter is on axis as possible to your ears. That will be the perfect compromise, IMO. If that's even a compromise; what I mean is that it will be closer in plane to the towers (if not quite perfectly), but the all important center will be as least off axis as possible.

If you look at my pics (click on My HT, see pg 3), you can see that I have two MoPads under mine, with the logo facing in so you don't see it :)

I will definately get the mopads. I flipped my center but now the tweeter is on the bottom and according to the readout I get more reverb in the higher freq. So with mopads I can put it right side back up and angle with the mopads. I think this will make a bigh difference. Thanks for pointing ot the mopads.
