Center channel to match Sapphire STIII

Hello all. I'd like to start this thread by complementing not only the site, but the forum users. Audioholics is by far the most objective collection of information regarding home theater and audio/video equipment I've came across in my two week search for information, and the forum contains a great deal of information that is accurate without being pretentious. That is really hard to find. Kudos to a great community. I will visit this site for years to come and suggest it to anyone looking for information.

Now that that's out of the way, I've recently purchased a new HT system. I absolutely fell in love with the price/performance of the Sapphire STIII's at my local tweeter center and was able to pick up a pair for $460 bux. I also purchased two PS3B subwoofers for $360 after hearing them as I thought it was a very good sub, again considering price/performance. I was able to get two SBS small bookshelf's for $76 to use for rears. I ordered them through tweeter as the price was right, and it gets me closer to a full sapphire system. I would really love to get the center and diploar rears. I posted a wanted add in the buyer/sellers forum but it's getting to the point I need to get something for a center channel.

That being said, what is a good center chan to meet these needs. I've considered going with something budget and searching e-bay and online to get a used sapphire center. One of the speakers I'm considering is the Yamaha NS-C444 for $89 off amazon. I also looked at their higher end NSC525 which I saw for $169 at brandnamez.com (which I'm a bit leery of, but saw for $225 somewhere else). The reason I'm considering both of these Yamaha is to match the lovely Yamaha RS-V4600 receiver that will be powering everything, but I'm open to suggestions.

Any help is appreciated. Thanks in advance for you assistance.

-Joe

Look for a matching center. Having all those mis matched speakers is really not a great idea, in particular it is very important to match the front three if you are after good sound. Check www.audiogon.com for used Saphire centers or check back with Tweeter over Memorial Day weekend to see if they have any deals on them.

I really don't have anything mismatching. That's why I was considering getting the cheapy yamaha fro 85 bux to get my by until I can find a sapphire center.

Thanks for directing me to audiogon. I'll check there and I already have my guy at tweeter keeping an eye out for returns. I'm ready to put a bounty out on one... $50 finders fee

If you can wait a month or two,I will be selling my Sapphire Center. I'm moving and will be getting a new setup for the new house. I've only had it for a few months and it's been little used. I've also noticed that the Sapphire Audio web site is offline. I paid $290 new, haven't a clue what to price it at.

I would forego the Yamaha and just wait (and it looks like you may have found one...) So the surrounds are from Saphire also? SBS is the name of an internet direct manufacturer's model, so sorry if there was a misunderstanding there.

Hmm.. I really want to plug my lovely new Yamaha 4600 into something soon so I'd prefer to move sooner. I'm probably going to pick up a used Infinity C25 for right now off of the classifieds. Please keep me in mind when you are getting rid of it. I saw the Sapphire on clearance for 149 at tweeter but they are all gone. http://www.shoplocal.com/default.aspx?action=inventorydetail&inventoryid=1481094&pretailerid=-99541&redirect=/default.aspx?action=inventorydetail&inventoryid=1481094&pretailerid=-99541&geotest=a

You wouldn't happen to have the diploar surrounds as well would you? I would love to take those off your hands as well. And yes Sapphire Audio, including their website, is merely a memory.

jhanley... I tried to pm you.

Just let me know when you are selling that center channel. I'm really looking for the diploars to use for presence speakers as well so if you have those, I'll take them as well.

are sapphire audio systems out of business?

I am sorry if this post does not belong here but I just joined and for some reason apparently cant create a new thread. This is the only mention of Sapphire equipment which is why I select it now.

A friend would like to sell some barely used Sapphire SBS speakers that she received a couple months ago. The sapphire audio systems site is offline.Dont know if they are out of business. Cant find any stores that stock it, so we are trying to assess if there is any demand for these and if so what to price them at..

thanks

I had just purchased some SBS's from Tweeter, they had a few left. I only paid $36 a piece new, but I've seen them on e-bay for $99 a pair. I'm happy with them for rears and they actually sound great in 7-CH stereo mode.

At this point though, i'm only looking to get a center channel or the SS dipolars to use for presence speakers.

I'm also looking for the Sapphire center channel speaker. I picked up the ST1s from Tweeter for half price in January and am kicking myself for not picking up the center channel as well. I took for granted that they would always be in stock. I picked up two pairs of SBSs shorty before Tweeter stopped stocking Sapphire and am using one of those as my center in a 6.0 configuration. I would really like to get my hands on the Sapphire center. Anyone who's selling one or knows where I can buy one, please contact me.

...bump. I'm still looking. I have an Infinity Center I'd be willing to trade.

I'd also like another pair of the bookshelf for rears if anyone has some.

Did you get the Infinity to fill it until the Sapphire comes available? If you're still looking for something/anything to fill in, I have a newish but inexpensive JBL N-Center if you're interested. And the rears...are you looking at only the Sapphires? I have some Infinity References availabe cheap, too.
