center channel question?

Let me introduce myself first as I am new to the community here. I am 29 years old and a big fan of audio especially the Klipsch Reference line (yes I already hear the grumbles). I worked for 3 years in a higher end (higher end meaning we carried reference, polk lsi, infinity kappa and the good velodyne subs) home theatre store and really loved every minute of it. I have since moved on but still have a passion for audio. My current set up which was bought direct from Klipsch during a sales spiff program is RF-15's and RB-25's. These speakers have been sitting untouched for 4 years now (still in the box) and I have finally decided to put them to use. Obviously I am missing the two main components of any home theatre system the center and sub. The sub I have figured out and I am going to get an HSU. Nothing against the Klipsch line but there subs have always left something to be desired in my opinion. The center is what has me in a quandary. I know what the perfect timber match would be the RC-25 but as you can tell I already mixed that with my other 2 any ways. To the point..... I am unfamiliar with the Legend Series specifically the KLF-C7. I have the opportunity to purchase this speaker in mint condition for $180 (good deal???). Would this match the Reference line I have now or would the Ceramettalic and Poly Carbon Graphite cones that the KLF-C7 has be a bit of a mismatch?? I do know I am matching a monster center with some of the smaller Reference speakers and that concerns me too. Well any advice you could give would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks,

Joe

P.S. My music only set up is Lsi-15's powered by a Marantz 2245b (bought by my father in the 70's with the black walnut case and was lucky enough to rescue it from the basement)

Welcome to AH, Flossmore!

Can't see why anyone would grumble at the fact that you're a fan of the Klipsch Reference Series, they're solid performing speakers and some of better lines Klipsch offers.

While the KLF-C7 likely would work, I would think the RC-25 would be a better overall match for the RF-15s and RB-25s. Spec-wise, the KLF-C7 looks a bit more powerful, but the RC-25 isn't too far behind and would likely be a bit easier from a placement perspective being a smaller form factor... -TD

Thanks Tom for the reply. The foot print definitely was a concern and the C7is huge but I would have managed. That's my fear buying it and regretting it due to not matching. Chances are I will still buy it and have a project system. Maybe a Legend Series system pieced together for my party room. ;) I should have jumped on that RC-25 on Ebay for $160 and I coulda picked it up it was so close. I put the grumbling part in because being in the audio business for a while I grew a custom to my peers putting there hands around there mouth while cupping them and saying Klipsch. Defintely an aquired taste but i have aquired it :) You learn so much from being in the business it's not even funny but that's a story for another day. Thanks again.

Granted it's a bit more than the C7, but here's an RC-35 if you're interested... -TD
