Hello,
Trying to figure out how to mount my CC under projection screen. I'm sure I can find a way to mount it, but is there any reason I cant have it sit on carpet?
Thank you

it "should" be as close to the bottom of the screen as reasonably possible, for best results. but if you set it on the floor/carpet, just aim it up at you.
DON'T just set it on the floor, unless your ears are on your feet.

On the floor is about the worst position possible for a center speaker. The only place worse would be the ceiling.

Every loudspeaker is different, and every situation is different, so I don't think you can generalize and say that one way is the best or worst.

In other words, if we can place the front left and right towers on the floor, why can't we place the "center" speaker on the floor if the "center" speaker is made to stand vertically (i.e. another tower speaker or similar LRC)?

I know when I had my Def Tech CLR3000 (26" height), I placed it directly on the carpet, just like the way placed my tower speakers.

It sounded awesome.

If you're using a tower in the front as your center, I would think your biggest concern for it to sound as good as it could is making sure it has adequate space behind it. For e.g., the towers that I have need 4' from the wall to sound their best and that just wouldn't be possible with how my room lays out and where the entertainment center is. If space behind it isn't a big issue with your particular speaker type, or if you have adequate space, I say go for it.

If its a traditional center channel, I'd also recommend a stand of sorts. The closer you can get to ear-height, the better in my opinion. Angle it up towards your ears with a wedge if you can't get it there with the stand alone. I know PSB makes one that comes with their Synch One C that works slick for my application. If not, I'm sure you can have one made for you easily enough. Call someone that works with plastics, rubber etc...

Another option is putting your speakers behind an acoustically transparent screen.

Mostly agree, why anyone who is considering a Front Projection system isn't also considering an acoustically transparent screen is a mystery to me. It is simply the only go especially for the center speaker.

I have used all of the possible LCR configurations and having the LCR's at the same height (tweeters at ear level) and behind an AT screen is by far the best option. Really anchors the sound to the visual source.
