Center Channel Equalization

I just got my new center channel and was wondering how should I set the equlization. The voices sound muffled to me. Should I use the test tone and try to get them to sound identical to my left and right channel?

Thanks

Level matching all the channels is the first thing, but that will not EQ your center speaker. It may never be EQ'd to the left and right speakers unless all 3 are the same.
A real time analyzer is needed with pink noise, 1/3 octave at least and EQ of equal ability. This may get you someplace near, maybe.

Keep it simple

Set the center channel volume level and speaker distance first and center channel to ON in your receiver setup. These are basic configuration setting while EQ refers to adjusting the frequency response of the center channel speaker.
