Cell phone apartment woes

Hello good fellows. I seem to be in a pickle. Right now, I have sprint which is decent almost everywhere, but I have absolutely no reception in my apartment. They have a femtocell, but its not available in my area (figures!). So now i have to pick a new provider and phone that has service in my apartment. I like apple products, and I want the iphone 4. I had a friend come over to my apt with his iphone and he said he had full bars in almost the entire apartment. Although I wasnt there to witness it, I believe him. But with all the chatter about how at&t is total garbage, I am a little hesitant to sign a 2 year contract. I thought about switching to verizon, but none of their phones really interest me, although I would be fine with an android phone. Any suggestions? Comments? First hand knowledge of either provider? Funny pictures?

On a side note: If I do get the iphone and don't have reliable service in my apartment, they have a femtocell which would do the trick (although set me 150 buckaroos).

Personally I would take an Android phone over an iPhone any day. I used to lust for the iPhone and I really wanted it to come to Verizon. Now I have an Evo and i am glad I didn't wait for an iPhone. I never thought I'd switch from Verizon either but they wouldn't give me my upgrade early and I hated my Blackberry Storm.

Android is so flexible and lets one do so much more than iPhone. I have an iPod Touch and I have not even turned it on since I got the Evo. The HTC Incredible on Verizon is an awesome phone and is what I wanted until the Evo came out which I could get now instead of waiting. The Droid X is coming July 15th.

I had AT&T at work for a while and it really wasn't good. Dropped calls galore and spotty coverage. It differs per region but around here AT&T is pretty bad.
