Ceiling Speaker sizing & spacing in outdoor wrap-around porch

I am building a new house and we are building an L-shaped wrap around porch that I'd like to put speakers in to listen to music to when sitting out there. The porch is 8' deep and is approx 35' long on the front of the house and 45' long on the side of the house. There will also be recessed lighting in the ceiling so I'll have to avoid those as well.

Would it be better to buy stereo combo speakers so that the music sounds normal no matter where you walk on the porch?

Would 6.5" speakers be suitable for this? Or would 8" be necessary?

Using a single volume rheostat, could I control the 6-10 speakers needed to do this, or would I need more?

Would I need outdoor speakers even though these speakers will not be directly in the elements?

Thanks,

Albie

Even though the speakers won't get rained or snowed upon, they will still experience fluctuations in temperature and humidity.

I would choose the loudspeaker based upon your application....outdoor.

Do you have any other requirements? Do they need to be installed flush or is external mounting ok? An enclosed, external speaker will sound the best unless you are going all out and addressing each possible location acoustically. That would be a waste your time and money, be simple. You should look into companies like Lutron or Niles Audio for volume control options. You're not going to get "normal" sound on an open porch but you can sure as heck get great sound :)

I'd prefer to have them flushmount to the ceiling just to be out of sight and not have wires protruding and cob webs all the time. All I want is good sound for the size of the porch and am considering using 6 enclosed combined stereo speakers spaced out evenly around the porch.

Thanks for your help.
