I know this will not answer your question, except, you seem to be looking for a good CD player...
The new Toshiba HD DVD players have good DACs, speaker settings and bass management for 5.1*multichannel analogs. Playing my CDs on the HD-A1 player, using 2 channel analogs, changes the rendition compared to digital connection to my a/v and the sound is more silky like and the sub more musical. Worth trying from a store with a 30 day return policy. Of course, you will not have a multi disc changer.
