CD ROM Drive Questions

I am planning to start using the CD ROM drive on my computer as a transport, and then take the SPDIF out of the CD ROM Drive through a Jensen Video Transformer into my DAC. I have called Plextor and submitted numerous questions on the SPDIF output of the CD ROM Drive to Plextor and they have given non responses.
The questions I have are on the quality of the SPDIF output drive, ( is this a typical gate driving choke divider and resistor, or is it a real 75 ohm driver?) Is the clocking inside the CD ROM Drive good enough to keep the jitter down to acceptable levels? There is a CIRC error correction, but that's about all the info I got out of Plextor.
If anyone has some answers to these questions or know where I can get answers I would be grateful. The Plextor web site is really lacking in this area, as far as I can tell.
Thanks;

I thought the S/P-DIF interface had no error correction?

According to Arny Krueger's website, if the player has a reasonable signal-to-noise ratio, then usually the other specs are good. Perhaps you could make a measurement of the jitter by running the digital output into an ADC on a high quality sound card? e.g.

http://www.pcavtech.com/play-rec/summary/index.htm

If the Plextor's performance isn't up to much, you could extract the CD tracks and run them though a good quality sound card. You could measure the jitter performance of the card in the same way, but usually the jitter performance is provided in the specifications.
