So I have finally narrowed my speaker choices down to two things after a couple of weeks of going around and auditioning speakers. Either the mackie HR824 studio monitors or because of the recent review on this site, the usher S-520 which I will probably get to listen next weekend. In either case I wanted to get a good cd player but don't want to spend more than $400 on one. I was going to get the top of the line denon 5 disc changer but was wondering of other options.

From what I have heard with many top of the line cd players there isn't much difference since the technology is so old. Instead of spending $400 on one spend extra money on the speakers and buy a lesser model. The cd player will sound the same but the speakers will sound better. Personally I am rather happy with my oppo as a multi purpose disc player.

Do you have a CD player now? What is the problem with it? Do you need more convenience? Does it have a digital output?
