Are still commanding a pretty penny if anyone checked out ebay. I wonder why that is?

I'm not sure what component you are talking about? The 100 or 200 disc CD players?

I still have a 100 disc Pioneer that I have had for a very long time! I love it! It has 4x trays of 25 each. So, I can always pop out 3 of the trays even while it is playing a disc from the 4th tray. When I work or study in that area, I just choose some random number. I also find that it is a great way to store my discs!

I also used to have a 200 disc Sony. I sold that one. It was the carousel-style. Those carousels are just a pain in the butt. Scroll through with the knob and wait for the carousel to turn. No Thanks!

Yep :)

Was the scrolling really that slow? I'm looking at this on EBAY

I suppose the scrolling was tolerable. But, compared to the Pio that has the flip-down drawers, it was a nuisance.

This is the Pio that I have. I bought it at a pawn shop more than 10 years ago. Still going strong, but I think the Pio badge fell off of it.

The only disadvantage that I can say on this one is that it doesn't have a digi output, only analog, so you are relying on the internal DAC. Sounds fine to my ears, but this isn't what I use for critical listening anyway.

I can understand that. :)

To clarify....

The Pio has those flip-down racks, 4 of them. You can open any of the 3 that aren't actively playing at any time to shuffle discs. You can also grab all the discs out of the rack at once and have 25 in your hand.

It was much more tedious to load/unload the carousel style mega disc changers. I can't remember for sure, but the one that I sold may not have been able to swap discs while it was actually playing.

The carousels have a stationary player and move the disk. However, the pio has a moving player that slides to the correct slot.

It's because it plays DVD's. I bought my Sony CDP-CX355 (300 CD's) for $75 a few years ago. I don't mind waiting for carousel to turn. I still see them on CL for around $100 every so often.

Oh sorry. I missed the other question. I've got mine about full now and love it. My main gripe with CD cases is the dust. The player saves me some space and it's connected via an optical audio cable. What's not to like?

Thanks Alex... The BluRay players are 3x to 10x the costs of the DVD units. Cheapest I saw on EBay is $1500. I have a lot of DVDs I could put into a unit like this and free up shelf space for new BluRays :)

A friend of mine has a nice little library he built for various media. I just add my movies to his collection and then borrow what I want but I will house music.
