CD EXT.IN or AVR Pure Direct w Sub ??? Please help.

Hi all,

I have a pretty decent SACD /CD player. Unfortunately I only have a couple of SACDs and mostly listen to CDs. As of right now it sounds decent with CD EXT.IN. However, I am curious if it would sound better in Pure Direct ON plus Sub. Crossover at 80.

My problem is that I also can not change the input to listen on my own. For some reason when I change Input from CD EXT.IN to Analog .. in Receiver menu, no sound comes out. How do I change settings for Receiver to do the processing and should I even bother?

I wish I could give more info ... it's just that specifically for playing SACD I changed some parameters probably in my AVR to work only as an amp and not a DAC and now all I see in the AVR is CD EXT. IN ............ i need to change AVR back to being the amp as well as processor and I have no idea how
