Is there an effective dvd player cleaning disc?? Like the vcr cleaning cassesttes?. I have an old borrowed JVC cd/dvd player that first played dvd's for about 45minutes then froze as if the pause button had been hit and would not respond to anything. Turning it off and trying the next day results in the same behavior though now it is freezing up in only about 15minutes. I'm wondering if this could be something as simple as dirt or dust ???
are there two lasers in these cd/dvd combo players? the thing is it plays the cd 's just fine. but then there's no "s/w" on a cd like there is on a dvd correct?

I had the same problem a couple of years ago, my player was inches away from the dumpster. I bought a disk that cleans the player (I forgot the name) there are several out there. I took care of my problem. I use it every few months now and never had that problem again.

I can't say for sure that it's going to work for you but it's worth a shot.

I have heard that it can be harmful to use those "lens cleaner" discs. The place I am employed is an authorized JVC repair center. When sales and installs are a bit slow I help out in the service dept. doing simple repairs on DVD players and such. I have to say that of all the brands I have had a chance to work on, JVC seems to have laser assembly problems more than the other brands. Which may be the reason your player is acting up.

If you really think it needs to be cleaned take it to someone who knows what they are doing. Perhaps they can acuratly diagnose the problem with your player.
