Have just received a monthly mailing from AudiophileCandy.com (HiFiForSale.com) telling me all about the fantastic effects that CD mats (which presumably can also be used for DVD's, although they forgot to point that out) can have on your aural enjoyment.

The article in full is available at :-

Truth, or snake-oil ? I think we should be told....

You think the seller would admit that they are selling snake oil only? LOL

Well, it is true that they are selling those mats for the stated price :D
Their claims are snake oil to the max :D

Static electricity causing audibility problems in a digital medium? Wobble in the CD? Overworked error correction circuits?
Why didn't they measure the error rates before and after using the mats? There is no difference :D Why not measure the static build up?
Those bouncing lasers in the picture? LOL I am surprised the CD plays and works :D

Much as I thought....

Playing Devil's Advocate, I have posted a comment on their forum in "Digital Accessories & Sources" : "CD / DVD mats - reviewed in AudiophileCandy". ;)

I wonder if there will be any replies - especially as they actually sell this stuff through the website.... :p

Yes, good post. Don't expect a serious reply ;)

Not a squeak in over a week - not a single reply - although there have been several viewings.
I wonder if I should ask some questions about CD / DVD Magic, or any of the other goods peddled by AudiophileCandy....
:D

How about the Densen Demagik disk? I didn't realize a laser needs to be demagnetized.........

Waste of your time. Just forget it ;)

Have forgotten it, but was really really really bored, so I've e-mailed the author of the article directly....!
