Caught by Surprise--New TV

So my wonderful wife has brought up the possibility for a new TV in the next few months...I worry about the technical aspects she worries about the when and the how. Well Presidents Day came and she calls me with her mother from Anderson's TV and says why don't you come down and help my mother pick out a new TV. Long story short I get there and not only does her mother buy herself a 42 inch Sony...But she also buys my wife and I a 50 inch Sony KDS-R50XBR1....I have done research for 42" models but this has caught me of gaurd...Finally a TV...but everything was so rushed did we really get the best TV we could have. Andersons offered a 3 year bulb warranty for 100 bucks which we got as the normal warranties don't cover that so I'm covered there. Anyone have personal experience with either this or the 60" model. Quirks that I should be aware of or problems...I've found a few reviews but personal reviews seem to be limited. Either way I LOVE MY WIFE (Her Mother As Well:) )

The Official Sony SXRD Owner's Thread

--Over 8,000 posts, eat you heart out lol. From what I have read, there have been complaints about some color banding along the sides, particularily green, and a tendency to have a red tinge throughout the entire picture. Overall though, great buy!

Mother-in-law buy you a big screen TV!

She's either a saint or you will pay dearly.

You are a lucky man.

Wow! Do you have a single sister in law?! ;) Good for you! I think that is a great display. I don't own one, but have looked at some. In comparing it to a Mitz and JVC in the same store, the Sony just flat looked better. The only pic I have about it is the silver frame around the whole display. It just looks like it's been stuck on there to me. Very distracting when the set is off, but the picture helps keep your eyes focused there and off the frame when it's on!
Enjoy your late Christmas gift!

Great!:D

Read that review buckeye posted. The warm setting will get you very close to the 6500K color temp, very important:) Grey scale tracking is very nice.
