I'm new to the sight and am not sure if this has been discussed but, has anyone tried to make these yet?
I have made several pairs and can notice an extreme difference. My question is do they have to be braided or will the factory twist work as well?

Noticed an extreme difference? That is incredibly difficult to believe.

There is a specific braid pattern that must be used for CAT5 to prevent crosstalk but that is for its use as a network cable. For speaker cable you could probably just twist all 8 conductors together and be done with it but my biggest question is always, why use CAT5 in the first place?

The cat5 cable I use is a 25 pair cat 5 with two silicone center strips between pairs.
I tried the braid and thats a lot of work and time and I've tried without braiding and haven't noticed a difference, so I would like to know if the braid is really necessary and does it really make a difference?
