Car Audio: Hifonics amplifier

Does any one have experience with the Hifonics car audio amps like the TXI4408 or 6408 model? I can get the model with 85 Watts x 4 channels into 4 ohms for about the same price as the Total Mobile Audio Amp (60 x 4 @ 4 ohms).

Is the quality and performance of Hifonics Comparable to TMA? Better? Worse?

Thanks,
-JC

I haven't been paying a whole lot of attention to car audio for the past couple of years, but from what I remember, Hifonics was among the better of the cheaper/lesser-known brands.

Hifonics

Thanks for the feedback. They have the same parent company as MB Quart. If the Hifonics amp would be a worthwhile adition to my MB Quart Reference series speaker then I will pick one up. Total Mobile Audio was also recommended but there aren't many distributors with product in stock.

I use a HiFonics 1000 watt RMS @ 1 ohm amp (BX1000D I think) for my eD15A subwoofer, and it's pretty good, but it's overrated for it's power. But I hear the newere ones are better, but overall they are pretty good for the money.

I have experience with one monobloc amplifier from Hifonics and it was definitely one of the better amplifier's I have used. When I got it I had never heard of it but I was very impressed with the amount of power it delivered and how well it drove a 12" subwoofer considering how small it was. I don't remember the model number but I do remember it saying hercules on it and I think it was rated at around 500W.

That sounds like one of the old school HiFonics amps from back in the day when they used to be very good, before they were bought out by Maxxsonics. Those old school HiFonics amps were awesome, and some of them stable down to 1/4 ohm, basically they were cheater amps for competitions.

Thanks for the feedback. I wasn't sure about the Hifonics or Total Mobile Audio brands so I just went with an Alpine 4 channel amp for a few bucks more. It should work great for my application.

Don't have any personal experience with those amps, but I know both of those brands to be top notch performers. The Precision Power amps and the Orion amps were great, especially the Orion HCCA amps.

What about car audio speakers, i plan to resurrect my system as soon as i get hold of some cash.

Precision Power DCX1000.4 RMS 125w X 4
Well i've heard cdt audio to have a great reputation for making high quality very neutral enthusiast oriented car audio drivers.

Something along the lines of these maybe:-
http://www.woofersetc.com/index.cfm?fuseaction=product.display&Product_ID=5207
http://www.woofersetc.com/index.cfm?fuseaction=product.display&Product_ID=1090

In the back a pair of reasonably priced 6" x 9" coaxials to fill in the rear, considering the front stage speakers are much more important for perfect imaging. Infact some purists say completely ignore rear speakers and invest all the cash in making the ideal front stage with perfect imaging(sound deadening etc.)

Any info about CDT, personal experiences etc.?

For my orion which does 300w@ 4 ohms. I plan on buying the HSU ASW 1203 just as its not overly expensive and i bet it is musical too given Dr. Hsu's expertise.

Might just go for the image dynamics 12" driver too if the budget allows

An there were the online car audio value brands:
Adire Audio made some heavy duty bass beauties, but they closed down.
