Seems like a lot more hassle than it's really worth.

Seems kind of pointless considering there are home amps in about every price category. Good old AVS

First pic shows a capacitor to help with current draw, second he's using a Bazooka tube (junk). Guess I would be impressed if they were maybe using some Fosgate or JL equipment. I remember Pyramid stuff being sold at the flea market when I was a kid. Plus, what a rats nest! Maybe they're doing in home SPL contest?

I seen one, they used a davinci amp that is like 7 channels all in one amp, and they had it wired to a big 12v battery and a battery charger, looked pretty simple to me...
the amp had all kinds of built in xovers and power controls... But I think a home amplifier would be a much better option, since if it burnt down your house you would still be covered, and it is much less likely to burn dow your house...

The crossovers in those things generally aren't better than what is in your receiver, so I don't really see that as a benefit in a home system. In a car system it makes sense, but even in car audio, better head units also have adjustable x-overs. Heck, even my stock Subaru head unit has that.

Well Amps are amps. I'm not aware of any major differences in the amp section of a car amp vs a home audio amp.

You would need the proper transformer to make it work though.

Honestly just get an EP4000 or something similar if you want real power in your home audio. A good car amp is gonna be pretty close to that price.

I suppose impedance could be an issue, with car amps being optimized for 4 ohms (and lower)
