Hi,
I have what I think will be a rather large project in front of me. We currently have 15 DirecTV (not DVR) receivers in our office, in a switched environment. We would like the best/most cost efficient way to record programs, and save them on a networked server, where we can then pull them and edit out commercials.
One solution given to me was hooking the receivers up to 2 servers, one with 8 video cards, and the other with 7 video cards. These servers would capture the programming, and output it to another server, that has loads of storage capacity on it. We would then have the video stored on that storage server, and could pull and edit it from there. Not sure if this is a recommended way of doing it, or if you guys have any other ideas?
I think the best solution would be replacing the HD receivers with DVR's. But if we did that, is there a way to just pull the recorded programs off to the storage server, which we could access over the network and edit as needed???
Anyone have any ideas on the best way to do this? We are probably looking to capture about 30 hours of programming a day.
Hopefully I have given you enough info to work off of. We have a pretty sophisticated AV setup. Appreciate any help.
Thanks
