After reading through this forum for some tid bits of tips and hints to setup htpc hometheatre system I finally got it working with
Onkyo TX-SR603X, orb audio speaker (people's choice), and some projection stuff, and htpc made by me (wonderful little machine in beautiful lian-li case).
It sounds better than I expected, and everything is fine... EXCEPT...
I already have previous receiver (old sony dolby stuff) that was powering rest of zones (5 zones in total) with old adcom distributor. I plugged CD inlet of this Sony to zone2 output of my Onkyo. Now, the only real sound input to onkyo is through digital coax from computer using Auzentech Explosion 7.1.
I can get FM running fine on zone2, I can even get other things working fine on zone2 once I plug stereo signal to one of many unsued input.
However, whenever I try to play any computer sources to zone2, nothing, nada, zilch.
Is there no downmix feature for Onkyo TX-SR603X from digital in to analog out for zone 2? Or am I missing something here?
Or if there is no D/A feature per say, what can I use to force downmix other than using ANOTHER amp in line? (if that even works?)
Thanks in advance.

While trying zone 2 (via computer) have you had any DSP modes on eg. Dolby Digital, DTS etc. As on most Receivers Zone two will not work in digital modes. Is your system setup through powered Zone 2?

Keep me posted.

Most Zone 2 receiver will not output digital sources. Run analog cables as well as digital cables. It will look to the digital inputs for the primary zone and to the analog inputs for the 2nd Zone.
