Can't hear subwoofer with sound card

I know this might not pertain to this thread, but I thought I may give it a try.

I just bought the new HDA Explosion sound card and had it installed on my htpc. I cannot hear the subwoofer at all. This is when I play movies from dvds and movies off of my hard drive. I even run the speaker tester program that came with the card and when I click on the subwoofer icon the center channel sounds. When I click on the center channel icon the center channel does nothing. I have a Yamaha a-3090 reciever.

I had a similar problem. I have soundstorm (true DD and DTS onboard sound) and I had to do a rear speaker phase switch in order to hear the subwoofer. I don't know why, but this is what had to happen.

I don't know about that sound card but the Creative cards have a "bass redirection" function that must be enabled before the bass will be directed to the subwoofer. There may be a similar function on your card.

Considering this is digital, you will need to set your speakers to small and enable the subwoofer, as well as setting a crossover (60, 80, 100hz, whatever your mains are capable of) to get bass with the subwoofer.
