Can't hear DTS soundtrack on X2 DVD via Yamaha RX-V1400?

Just setup my receiver, my 5.1 speaker system, and put in the X2 DVD. Went to the "Languages" menu on the DVD and selected the "DTS" soundtrack. I pressed play and didn't hear anything (the Dolby soundtrack works fine).

On my receiver, I selected DVD as the input source and "DTS" as the input mode. The sound field program is also set to "DTS Sur. Standard". The DVD is connected via optical to the receiver

Am I doing something wrong? Why can't I get the DTS soundtrack to play?

You have to set the player to pass bitstream via the digital out or you won't get dts.

I assume DVD player connected with HDMI ? if above doesn't work - solution for me was to connect digital spdif cable in addition to hdmi...

Tnx for the quick replies. After I posted, I racked my brain and then realized that I eliminated every possible solution except for examining the DVD player itself. You were right, I needed to go into the setup menu on the DVD player (without any DVD in the player) and I changed a few settings that I had no clue about:

-Changed the Display to 16:9 (from 4:3 LB) since I now have a sweet 46" sony bravia instead of my old 36" Toshiba CRT
-Changed the 96khz LPCM to 96 (from 48)
-Changed Dolby Digital to "Bitstream" (from "Lpcm")
-Changed DTS to "On" (from "off")

Then popped X2 back in and I literally got goosebumps watching scene 35 (The escape) from how awesome everything now sounds & looks. Thanks!!!
