Can't figure out my new surrounds

<font color='#000000'>I have a vr-507 kenwood receiver with 2 e-712 cerwin vegas as fronts and now i want to add 2 aiwa surrounds, but i can't seem to get my receiver off of stereo mode and onto something compatible with surround like dts or dolby digital. &nbsp;can anyone help me????</font>

Generally, you need to enable Dolby Digital and DTS output on your DVD player (usually DD is defaulted to 'on'). Then you need to make sure you have connected the DVD player to the receiver via a digital connection, either coax or optical.
