Hello. After a lot of research I finally made the plung and bought my 5.1 setup...aka Elemental Designs A500s sub...6T6 L/C/R...5T5 surrounds...should be here on wednsday. However I still cant decide on a reciever...I need at least 3 HDMI in ports...though I would prefer 4 if possible. I definetly want full 1080p upscaling as well. I have been looking at the Denon 1910 and the 790. Supposedly they are the same exact thing. If anyone has more info please tell me...and if anyone has a better reciever choice for under 550 please let me know as well! Thanx In Advance!!

Hello kuko92 what is your budget?

Those eD speakers are 6ohm and have a sensitivity of 90.3db so they are not the most efficient speakers out there. A lower powered receiver may struggle a bit if you have a fairly large room.

My room is pretty small...11 by 11 with 8 ft ceilings. And my budget is about $550

You may want to give the Audioholics store a try. They have this Link Marantz 5003 on sale for 499. The regular is 799 so this is a great buy. I think they only have one left. The only down I can see with this is it only has 3 HDMI ports which you said is ok.

How do you think that would compare against the Denon 1910...I have heard great things about Denon...period. They are nice heavy reciever with good power source. Not to familiar with Marantz...

They are actually owned by the same company. Marantz has been around for many years and offer high quality products. Honestly when it comes down to Denon, Yamaha, Onkyo and Marantz picking any of them will get you a solid product. In many cases it comes down to some of the small features like ipod connectivity, ethernet or number of HDMI connections.

Now just looked at the 1910 vs. the 5003 I would go with the 5003.

The big deal breaker on the 1910 is the lack of pre-outs. So if you ever wanted to add an amplifier you would not be able to do so with the 1910.

Good point on the PreAmps I was just noticed that the Marantz has the PreOuts while the Denon doesn't.

You have to be kidding ---what happened to the Def Tech solution ?? and the Dayton, SVS or Hsu sub??

Oh Well, if you auditioned them and like them Great! Just wouldn't have been my choice

Don't get Denon -IMHO Get Marantz, Onkyo or Yamaha in that order of peference. Hard to be specific without a budget number?

Good Luck!
