Cannot get into Denon Set-up on Samsung TV using ARC

Hello,
I am embarrassed to post this but I cannot seem to get into set-up menu on new Denon AVR-X3400H.

I have the receiver connected via HDMI (ARC) on both the receiver output and the correct HDMI (Arc) input.

It's a fairly new 60 inch Samsung Smart TV and good quality HDMI.

I sometimes see it 'Flash' into the Denon setup menu and then it no longer sees a signal on the TV.

Do you think I may be dealing with a Samsung issue or a Denon issue? Any ideas?

Thank you!
Ross

This is a very frustrating 1st experience with Denon. I have had many Onkyo & HK receivers over the years without setup issues. :( :(

First I'd try a soft reset (unplugging the avr for a while), then a system/microprocessor reset if that doesn't bring it up normally. Could be hdmi handshake issues, too. Sometimes duds are shipped, too.

Common issue..
Neither the Samsung display or Denon AVR are HDMI/HDCP certified...
Both brands do their own in-house self-cerification which is abbreviated compared to the certification done by the HDMI compliance labs. The 1st thing to try would be to exchange the Denon AVR..

Just my $0.02... ;)

Thanks for your responses. I was able to finally get it to work. I think the HDMI behind the TV was pulled a little too tight when I switched it to the ARC port. I pulled some slack and was able to get to set up screen and update etc. I am still a bit old school with home theater and have many more questions that I need to dive into. ha
