I recently purchased a Denon AVR-2308CI. It has 2 HDMI inputs which I am using for my PS3 and HD DVR. I have no problem with the HD DVR, i get both audio and video just fine. But, with the PS3, i am only getting video. Does anyone know why this is happening and how i can resolve it??? Thank you in advance!

First chec your PS3, under audio settings make sure it's set to output sound via hdmi.

Second, in your recievers settings, check the source input for sound you are using and also make sure it is set either to auto or to hdmi.

Let us know what you find.

Thanks Jack, I will try that when I get home tonight. I've noticed that when TV/CABLE is the source, I am able to get sound via either stereo or 7.1, depending on the channel. But when I have the source on the AVR as DVD/BD (PS3), it just says "STEREO", and there isnt any sound.

Im thinking its a problem with the PS3 setup because my last receiver didnt have HDMI capabilities, so I went directly from the PS3 to my TV with an HDMI and an optical cable from the PS3 to the AVR.

It sounds like your PS3 is still set to output sound via the optical. Let us know what you find.
