Canare 4S11 vs. WireWorld or Analysis Plus

Hi,

I need new speaker cables and I'm seeing lots of posts about these Canare cables. Evidently you guys like them. How do they compare with cables like those from Wireworld or Analysis Plus? I'm new to all of this stuff, and I keep getting drawn in with promises of things like greater depth, and better soundstage, etc. etc. So, somebody clue me in, what's the story here? I'm seeing great reviews for all of these cables. Thanks!

They will all sound exactly the same unless you mentally want them to sound different. Then they will sound different. That is the great paradox of this hobby.

Also remember that all audible differences can be measured, but not all measurable differences are audible.

On paper, single-wired Canare 4S11 (each pair of conductors twisted together on both ends) actually measures pretty darn well. That's what I use and recommend. You can actually make them look pretty fancy with techflex and heatshrink if you are so inclined.

I have not seen a single case where any of these audio press reviewers was able to substantiate their claim of radical differences in exotic cables with anything resembling evidence.

The benefits of expensive speaker wire are myths. You should do a search on this board and you will get a hugh number of hits on this. I would suggest 14 guage Radio Shack, Home Depot, AR etc. etc. I paid about $20 US for a 50' roll of flat (to go under the carpet) 14 guage speaker wire at Radio Shack recently.

Thanks you guys! Been doing a lot of research on these "high-end" cables. Almost got sucked in with the "promise" of better sound. The funny thing is, I keep going back to the Canare. You guys helped me save a bundle. I just wish the Magazine Reviewers would stop pushing these stupid mega-buck cables. Heck, if I got 'em for free, I'd probably use 'em too...Ha! Actually, now that I think of it, why would I spend big bucks on something that won't help me get a date... Thanks again!
