Can you turn a low end speaker into a good speaker?

If I take a crappy speaker from a thrift store and put a new driver and tweeter in it, will that make it a good speaker? Will it improve it at all?

Suffice it to say the odds of a successful project aren't in your favor; OTOH its possible to find some good classic speakers in a thrift store and restore them.

The BR-1S kit is on clearance for $99 on Parts Express. There is also a kit that comes with boxes included. This will give you an idea of which boxes to look out for. Find boxes for them and assemble the kit
