Can you improve this setup?

Ok, so I've done a bit of basic research, and I've found a system that I probably would've bought if I didn't think to ask you guys first. But first, a bit of background:

I'm putting finishing touches to my basement, which is 500 square feet (48 sq. meters) in one big, 'L' shaped room.

This room will primarily be used as a home cinema. I plan on buying a surround system and a projector to play contents from the HTPC, PS3 and Xbox I already have. So movies streamed from a NAS as well as blurays primarily. 3D and 4K support is a must as I don't intend on buying new equipment any time soon after buying this.

The room will also be used whenever I'm throwing a party, so some light music as well. Movies are absolutely top priority. I can live with midrange music speakers bought seperately from this surround system if that means I will get a better surround system.

My budget is 20.000 DKK ($3500)

Anyway, based on advice by others, this is my intended setup:

AV Receiver: Onkyo TX-NR727
Onkyo | TX-NR727

Speakers: Jamo D500
Jamo : D 500 : D500

Above is based on reviews and advise. I am a very technical person, but in regards to audio, I know very little, and I unfortunately have very limited options in regards to actually hearing the setup before I buy it. I realize that I myself have gone a bit over my budget, but still within tolerable limits.

My question to you is: Given the same budget - can you find a better setup than the one above?

Mainland Denmark. Pretty much the same as in the rest of Europe/the US, I would expect.

Receivers: Denon, NAD, Onkyo, Yamaha, Cerwin Vega, Harmon Kardon, Pioneer (Primare, Rotal also carried, but I've never heard of those before) and many others. It is also quite easy to order from the UK or Germany - though a 50kg sub might be expensive to ship.

Speakers: Home Cinema, Bose, Harmon Kardon, Onkyo, Jamo, AudioVector, Martin Logan, Raidho, Klipsch, System Audio, Cerwin-Vega, Dali, B&W, Audio Pro, Monitor Audio, SVS, Yamaha

I have a slight affinity for the (Klipsch owned) Jamo or Dali as they are local - but above all else, I wanted quality for the buck.

In other words, suggest something and I'm sure I'll find it.

Alternatively, let me know if I'm on the right path with a surround setup rather than a floor speaker.

Also, the Onkyo amp doesn't have a pre out. I have no idea what that is, but some think I can't live without it. Others say it's irrelevant.
