Can this center channel be run off of a normal receiver?

Yes, you can do it. Just be aware that the amp's protection circuitry may turn on if you play it at high volume for extended periods of time. From the owner's manual:

North American models:
You can connect speakers
with an impedance of between 6 and 16 ohms. If you
use speakers with a lower impedance, and use the
amplifier at high volume levels for a long period of
time, the built-in amp protection circuit may be activated.
EDIT: I now see that there was another thread started on this that already had answers.

What speakers are you using for front L/R? The Polk is a good center, but generally speaking you should try to use a model from the same line as your front L/R.
