I would like to know if both surround and both back surroung speakers can be put in the ceiling. Supposing the room has windows on the sides. The guy who putting home theater is suggesting that. I probably like to put floor standing then in the ceiling, but if it does not make any difference I will go with Inceiling. Please help.

Is it makes any difference if speakers are dipole and bipole speakers.

How are the Paradigm Monitor series speakers, that is the speakers he want to put.

Because the surround and surround back channels are "ambiance" or "effects" channels you may benefit greatly from having them in ceiling; generally surround speakers should be above and behind the listeners' ear. Also, bipolar and dipolar speakers are diffuse in their output making them harder to localize. Having your surrounds in ceiling also eliminates visible wires, stands, etcetera. There are several companies who make nice in wall products that sound great (I have auditioned IW speakers from Speakercraft and Definitive Tech).
