Can someone recommend a cheap 6.1 receiver for Bose 901s?

Hi,

I'm having a hard time finding a decent receiver around $300 for the
Bose 901s. They seem to need main amp in/pre amp out and hard
to find ones under $700. The equalizer you must use with the speakers
require these.

Can anyone recommend a cheaper receiver? I want to go from Dolby
Pro Logic to Dolby Digital EX.

Right now they use old Hitach HA-V5EX A/V Stereo Surround Amp and
a Hitachi HMA-120AV Stereo Amp for power I believe.

Any help would pre appreciated thanks.

Seriously, I have no life.
How many of these speakers do you have?
What you may be able to do is an inexpensive receiver with some good but inexpensive external amp(s), such as the Behringer A500 at $180.

Bose 901's are very power hungry speakers & they need more wattage than all but the most powerfull & expensive recievers can handel, you should be looking for an external amplifier in the 300 wpc @ 8 0hm range to be able to drive them with any authority.

The least expensive receiver I can think of that may meet your needs is the Pioneer VSX-816 (<$300). It has pre-outs that you will use connected to your Hitachi amp that you will still need to use to connect to the 901s. The L/R channel amps of the receiver will go unused.
